So Jakarta Records was out in Tunisia to put together a recording session between nine female musicians from Syria, Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya. They brought Oddisee and Olof Dreijer of The Knife on to provide the backdrop of this particular song, called Nouh Al Hamam.

This single is the first leak from this project called Sawtuha — which means ‘her voice’ in Arabic. Acknowledging the lack of rights women have in these countries, this project was put together during a two-week period and speaks out against gender inequality, lack of inclusion, oppression, despotism, lack of democratic rights, corruption and more. The album is available for pre-order, and will be out on January 24th.
