Emerging rapper/producer  Mackonthetrack enters our site with his new project Truth Beauty Goodness , a 7 track project that fuses trap, soul and alternative sounds with playful, reflective lyrics and melodies.

Boy this is the Mackosphere, killing it every year”

The project begins with “Welcome to the Universe”, which serves as an introduction of sorts for listeners. The production has a moody and cinematic feel while the drums are punchy but not overwhelming. Mackonthetrack employs a choppy flow and laidback cadence as he breaks down his style and attributes. The lyrics are engaging, and boastful but not exactly mind-blowing. The follow-up track “Living Life” begins with a sombre guitar arrangement and prevalent synth bass that slowly soar to a crescendo when the trap drums come into play. Mackonthetrack delivers his bars with a melodic tinge and characteristic twang as he talks about living life on his terms and seizing the day as it comes.

The project takes a turn with the emo trap vibes on “Shots’ n Slots”, where listeners are treated to a playful delivery drenched in autotune vocal effects and off-beat melodic runs. Although Mackonthetrack handles most of the vocals himself, he does get assistance on “Greatest” which sees him teaming with F-Note The Visionary. The guitar-driven track exudes mariachi vibes and sees both rappers in their element as they show appreciation for the small wins life gave them.

Next is “Sunset Glade”, a soulful and reflective piece that starts with a dreamy string arrangement. Mackonthetrack’s singing stands out and shows effort as the rapper puts his all into making this exceptional love tune with summer vibes.

The project closes out with the reflective “One” and the cinematic sampling of “So Help Me God”. The former once again sees Mackonthetrack in his melodic zone and delivers a laidback and soothing performance ripe with heartfelt lyrics while the latter sees the rapper delivering a stream-of-consciousness rap laced with vivid imagery and humorous quips.

Overall, Truth Beauty Goodness is a mixed bag of feelings and sounds. The range of production styles is commendable but at times the flow leaves a lot to be desired regardless Truth Beauty Goodness gets the job done for fans of alternative rap.
