Kenn Starr is one of my favourite MCs. Since I first heard him the conscious lyrics, casual, eloquent flow and hard punch lines he spits captured my attention, and one day on shuffle this smooth joint came up on my iTunes. I didn’t even know I had it, and I was amazed to find out it was from 8 years ago. Don’t sleep on this dude.
He’s close associate with Talib Kweli and Oddisee and deserves to be spoken of in the same vein. Funnily enough, I was just wondering very recently what had happened to him – I hadn’t seen or heard about any new Kenn Starr releases for ever – but apparently his album, out on Mello Music Group, is in the process of being mastered. Dope!
