Oakland based artist Karen Less latest release “Love Is On The Way” is a feel-good soulful cut she wrote for her soon-to-be-born baby girl. The track has a smooth, retro vibe courtesy of producer Abacus who is a member of the Oakland based The Brothers Amor alongside Lord Cromwell. The trio proceeds to individually write their own tribute to the girl from letting her know that they will always be there for her in good times or bad.

Less was 8 months pregnant when she wrote the track which is a heartwarming letter to her daughter MacKenzie Mercedes Alexander Persons.

Even though Karen Less is born and raised in Oakland, she leans towards the old school, and her throwback, jazzy style is refreshing in an otherwise post-hyphy Bay Area. 

The Brothers Amor – Abacus & Lord Cromwell – have been writing and recording tracks at home studios wherever they’ve lived, which was often under the same roof. The Brothers Amor were raised in the same, small California town, moved in Troy, New York for a time, and finally landed in their current hometown of Oakland in 2007. Although they’ve been constant students of hip hop since grade school, short of a few projects released over the last decade, most of their catalog lives on hard drives, out of reach from the rest of the world.
