The Juno Awards recently made the announcement that they have eliminated four categories. This is extremely upsetting news.

While, they haven’t always repped for Hip Hop proper, they didn’t try to cancel that one. But they did cancel a very important category, Children’s Album of the Year. This category has a storied career with some amazing children entertainers being recognized including Raffi, Sharon, Lois & Bram, Splash N Boots, and Fred Penner to name a few.

Boots, aka Taes was on CBC radio to talk about this and I share some clips from that in the second half of this week’s show. I intersperse that with some song about kids.

Please make some noise. We need this category back! Children’s entertainers do important work and this distinction means a lot.

UPDATE – Since the recording of this show, the Junos have reversed their decision. This is a win for us all.
