Texas-bred rapper/songwriter JS has been inspired by early 90s and 200s hip-hop and he makes an effort to put all he has learned in life into his music. Starting off in a tumultuous upbringing, he found a way to come out of the craziness after he got a computer program that allowed him to be able to record from the comfort of his room and the rest is history. He released his debut project titled Retribution in 2015 and has since released several EPs with Price Of Progress being his latest full-length project.

The song “Hold You Down” is taken from the aforementioned project and it’s an anthemic record that aims to inspire all the go-getters and hustlers trying to reach the apex. Over a soulful vocal-driven backdrop underpinned by punchy drums and cinematic textures, JS reminds us that the day-to-day hustle is not a walk in the park and it takes courage, a pure heart and solid integrity to make it out unscathed. He also adds the caveat of helping those less fortunate than you when you are at the top.
