On Monday, Jay Electronica surprisingly drops the official Just Blaze-collaborative album fans were waiting for on TIDAL.
The reason why the word ‘official’ is used is because Sunday morning, the elusive MC became the popular topic on twitter, with the discussion being that the album fans were waiting for – was leaked on the internet to stream on YouTube.
This release comes close to nearly seven months after the release of A Written Testimony. But it also comes after an 8-year announcement, with an album supposedly finished with only six songs, then him releasing an official tracklist – which then turns into it being in the “last stages of recording,” according to longtime collaborator The Bullitts. This was right after the JAY Z x Kanye West collab Magna Carta Holy Grail dropped.
It took a long while for the fans to get to this point, even Jay admitted that he had to get the samples cleared in order for it to be officially released. Thanks to HipHopDX for the screenshots since the tweets got deleted – just like many of the ones Jay took down from 2012.
Side note: although 2020 has been such a crazy year due to the coronavirus, there’s at least one positive spin to it all: Jay dropped two albums in less than a year, which I believe makes up for the many features he’s dropped every now and then, despite no album dropped in nearly a decade.
