San Francisco-based, French-born musician/ producer Iguazúl has been making his rounds as an instrumentalist who blends a handful of genres from electronic to soul to Brazillian funk and more. His latest release “New World” is a brilliant mix of electronic dance/jazz-funk pieces that is layered and smooth. The atmospheric textures, space funk-jazz infusions and edgy drum grooves are all underpinned by the sultry and emotionally punchy performance from an unknown Nigerian singer/vocalist. The lyrics are aspirational and hopeful with lines like “I see change, I see a new world, revolution/ You’ve been accepted just the way you are, Let’s give our hands together/ We live for one another” that implores listeners to find themselves.
