As we look forward to brighter days in this global lockdown, some elite team of educators has teamed up to help keep the kids who are forced to stay at home engaged. Known as the Hip Hop HeadUcatorz, a diverse crew made up of Ontario teachers who believe in the use of Hip Hop culture to inspire and engage students. With each member specializing in one or more aspect of the hip-hop elements, we get to see how they truly fuse their teaching skills with a healthy dose of hip-hop on their song/video “Teaching at Home”

Over a banging classic drum break the group proceeds to share positive and uplifting vibes to all students, parents, and fellow education workers out there. Each act comes through to give his/her own take on the current situation and how they fully adapt their teaching skills and

Get to know more about them below.

Producer, I.Khan, teaches in the GTA. His work is based on valuing the culture, perspective and potential of the youth.

Wizekrak (aka MC Skeletor, aka DJ Andy Gee) is an emcee with grey hair for whom MC means Midlife Crisis. During recess, he runs the “Live Poets’ Society” where students write rhymes, produce beats and mix tracks.

MikeAll is a Scarborough, Ontario native and TCDSB educator. His goal is to put the poet back into Rhythm And Poetry.

Just Sev has been teaching with the TCDSB since 2013. Outside the classroom, Sev applies his passion for teaching as a minor hockey coach.

A-Cubed has taught with the TDSB for 6 years and has loved hip hop all his life. He appreciates the art form and strives to communicate clear messages of positivity!

Millionaire, genius, inventor…Tigz is none of these things. Instead, Tigz (who provided cover art and raps) is a humble story-maker from Jane and Finch who likes doodling on walls and eating hamburgers.

Jon Corbin is a Canadian hip hop artist, spoken word poet, speaker, band leader, writer and DJ based in Milton, Ontario. Jon blesses stages with a dynamic show that stays true to the basic tenets of hip hop: peace, love, unity and having fun!

Chase March is a teacher and a librarian. He is the host and DJ of Word Is Bond Rap Radio heard every week on 94.9 FM Radio Western in London, Ontario.

The Apologette is a seasoned high school teacher, solo mom, spoken word artist and occasional emcee whose life experience and passion for performance pour out on the mic. The Apologette hopes to raise awareness of gender-based and domestic violence by using her voice through poetry, social media, and in the classroom.
