SPRTYK‘s newest release “Bad Temper” is a befitting follow up to her debut Amen produced/Loui Nova directed single “Helly Hansen” The emerging act hasn’t looked back since and now presents a whole new phase of her movement. The aptly titled track focuses on SPRTYK’s (pronounced Sporty K) frustrations and battle to reach the apex of her career. Over the mellow, surreal trap backdrop, the young lady doesn’t hold back her anger and goes for the jugular. Sending warning shots to naysayers and letting the listeners know that she is here for the win and nothing else, SPRTYK brings to the forefront a refreshing and edgy vibe peppered with solid lyricism. A natural go-getter with the flair of a winner, SPRTYK also gives us an insight into what makes her tick when she spits, “…Had to face my fears, I could’ve built a pool six feet from all the tears, I bounced back with my circle ain’t no room for squares…”

The video for “Bad Temper”  directed by J. Chance and SPRTYK herself, follows the emotional flows and ebbs of a top female draft pick / artist-in-bloom determined to win against all odds as she fights to escape the all too familiar “angry black female” stereotype. Shot on location in her native Bronx, NY, an unapologetic SPRTYK literally gives two middle- fingers to the oversimplified characterizations of being bad-tempered, hostile, and overly aggressive as she deconstructs her game-winning resilience to her therapist.  Styled perfectly, the video captures all the buzz and excitement as the former High School point guard dons her corporate team jersey in front of a legion of cheering fans and shoulders the enormous pressure of shooting from the line for the game-winning bucket.

She is currently putting final touches on her upcoming project Because I Feel Like It which will be out later this year. Check out BAD TEMPER now across all DSP’s.
