Chicago-based emcee/producer/DJ Emcee Monte is celebrating “50 Years of Hip Hop” in his own way by penning this heartfelt tribute to the most influential genre in the world. Over a sparse retro-infused soundscape, Monte takes it back to the beginning by paying homage to the pioneers who helped lay the foundation and looks back at how far we all have come. Lines like “We celebrating 50 Years of Hip Hop, the music came and claimed the top spot/from rock roll, why, we number one/and the culture has the most influence under the sun” help sum it up as well.
