I had just checked the submissions folder and removed a horrible material I had just collided with. You can bet my mood was ruined by that so it was with great reluctance I peeped this project titled Hear to Heal. My sarcastic side jeered that this had better bring its healing power else like Samuel L. Jackson “I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger” (you need to be a movie head to get that). Even the dude’s name was interesting what with a moniker like Ear Dr. Umz The MetroGnome playing at being the ear doctor and also ear drums the metronome. He got my attention alright.

I hit play and the first thing that came to my mind was Rawkus Records and that classic material Soundbombin’ II. I guess being a multifaceted talent does have its perks, I mean Ear Dr. Umz The MetroGnome beatmaking, producing, arranging, mixing and the DJ cuttings on all the tracks cannot but be applauded. Now, I quickly came to understand why it said in the description that this is ‘the detox for your boombox’ and you need to clock in to understand where I’m coming from. More than just the great and timeless beats on the project, the emcees bring the heat literally and don’t treat the project like it’s an obscure mixtape. Instead, you have emcees bringing mixtape material into the album realm. There’s a lot to look forward to in this 15 tracker and I’d be wrong if I don’t tell you to sample it and go get your copy. Shouts to Ear Dr. Umz the MetroGnome and I want my copy too.
