Boran and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, rapper/singer/songwriter Damién Denzel Ross Henderson aka Damez discovered his love for music at an early age. After relocating to Atlanta at age 6, he went through some life-changing experiences ranging from the divorce of his parents and the horrific murder of his brother at the tender age of 17. Damez didn’t let these events stop him as he forged ahead with his music career, releasing music independently and he released his debut EP in 2014 which showcased his songwriting skills and his exploring his sexuality in a society that seemingly frown upon such issues. He doesn’t shy away from being himself and shows listeners the unique intersectionality of his life experiences in his music wherever he can.

His latest release titled “Agenda” is him addressing homophobia in hiphop in his own unique way. Far from punching down, he details how being narrowminded can hurt people in the LGBT community and he implores people to be aware of the agenda but he also reminds naysayers that he is not one to be toyed with.

The video was shot in the barbershop he frequented as a child and we get to see his smooth laidback performance style in all its glory.
