The C&K Street Series features Commoners and Kings performing impromptu spoken word poems on the streets of Southern California.  NERCITY, pronounced “inner city” and PRENTICE POWELL, and I meet and they do a “group piece”.  This is the first group piece featured on the series and they give us insight to a hot bed issue of police perception in black neighborhoods, by highlighting the stories of OSCAR GRANT and LOVELLE MIXSON.  Nercity and Prentice are both veterans reppin’ the bay area with a resume that has taking them around the world doing poetry.

NerCity style is honest and in your face.  He is the co-founder and co-host of the Golden State Slam in Oakland.

Prentice brings energy and passion to his work.  He runs the longest running open mic in Oakland entitled Hot water Cornbread’s Mouth Off Wednesdays.
