Nigerian/American rapper Chombos sails into our radar with a couple of tracks from his catalogue. The tracks in question showcase the rapper’s creativity and knack for penning heartfelt and relatable music that audiences can gravitate toward.

“Stockholm Syndrome” is the first track and it comprises downtempo sparse trap drum grooves and off-kilter choppy samples underpinned by his high-pitch vocal tone and distinct cadence. His lyrics are vivid and lead audiences into the mix of action as he paints a heartwrenching tale of emotional trauma related to being stuck in a toxic relationship.

The second track “Follow the Leader” continues in a similar vein as Chombos once again combines African samples (From Fela Kuti) with modern hip-hop aesthetics. The production is bolstered by triumphant horns and cinematic textures with laidback but punchy drum grooves. Armed with his expressive flow and off-beat cadence, he delivers a bravado-laden piece ripe with graphic lyrical displays.
