Lagos based producer/artist Charlie X (sometimes known as Charlie Extreme) is as random as it gets on his new project titled “Drums, Guitars & Songs On Random Sh!t“. The title pretty much sums up what the listener is about to get into. Devoid of any formal introductions, the 10 track project starts off with the guitar driven “Get the funk up” and the randomness begins. There is a plethora of soundscapes to latch onto here, some more jarring than others but for the most part pretty interesting. The blend of Afro-pop, 80s pop, electronic elements, high life and more makes this release far from stale but still it’s something to grow on.
