Memphis raised emcee Blu’Jay comes through with some songs from his new full-length project which dives into his myriad of experiences and how they affect him as a whole.

The first cut “My Side” sees him working with Emily Woelke and Khan Kazi and the trio deliver a west coast-infused sound peppered with their Southern-style. The track dives into his journey as an artist in his city and all the ups and downs that come with it. The record has a smooth bounce and catchy chorus as well

“A cautionary tale” is a reflective and insightful cut that explores the way people can unintentionally lose their integrity for monetary gain. The production here has a punchy and somewhat moody texture which fits Blu’Jay’s melody-laced flow and evocative lyrics that everyone can relate to. Once again, Khan Kazi joins him on the cut and gives his own 2 cents on the topic at hand.

“Anticipation” is the last cut we got here and it’s actually one of  Blu’Jay’s older recordings which just got to see the light of day. The track has a punchy boombap-esque vibe and sees him in bravado mode from start to finish. He is joined on the track by vocalist Nadia Holt who helps out with background vocals.
