The intro “Before the Animals Know You’re Dead” features Juba , who narrates the ongoing events from a bird’s eye view, similar to Marvel’s watcher. He observes the slow and total destruction of mankind through their vices and ignorance. This is followed by “Scorpion’s Harpoon” featuring Sleep Sinatra, Money Mogly and Danny Diablo who deliver outstanding bars over a gritty soundscape that is part hip-hop and part rock. Lines like “Don’t need no co-defendants, lessons learned from broken business, they so contentious cause they never lived open ended” underscore the lyrical depth displayed throughout the track. This is followed by the ominous banger “Mustard Gas” featuring Kurupt, Apathy and Bub Styles. The result is a solid display of styles with Young Gotti leading the charge with his smooth laidback style, followed by a rousing hook and more verbal darts from his fellow emcees. LMNO, Kemo the Blaxican and Mvtha Cvla step into the fray in “Float,” a cinematic track that takes audiences into a world filled with despair and gloom, where everyone has eyes on their back as they move through an unforgiving world.
The women of hip-hop get some shine in the posse cut “LiveFromTheBasement” where underground stalwarts Backwood Sweetie, Kenilworth Katrina and Indigo Phoenyx trade no-holds-barred bars with one another. “Womb2TheGrave” brings a mix of veteran emcees Young Buck, The Bad Seed and Zenyth, while “Dernier Cri” blends heavy metal soundscape with dark elements and recruits Mike McTernan and Sage Francis for a brilliant genre-crossing effort. The project continues on a trajectory with the scenic “River Monsters,” which brings together Gunsmoke, Jeck Da General and Bless Picasso. Each emcee delivers vivid storytelling verses over Krohme’s cinematic guitar licks and moody textures. An unexpected feature from Bizzy Bone is present on “When the World Falls Apart,” a bravado-laden performance from The Cloaks, and RhymeStyleTroop also adds a punch to the track. The final track brings the project to a close, a posse cut “Lambs vs Lions” featuring Christian Olde Wolbers, Kreng, Estee Nack, Lord Goat, G Fam Black, Squeegie Oblong and O the Great. Each emcee brought their A-game and delivered nothing but raw, unfiltered bars over Krohme’s experimenatl soundscape comprising industrial sound design, scenic strings and subtle vocal samples. This is followed by the short narration “Finis Dierum” which helps close the theme of the project.
Other notable tracks include the insightful “The Levee Breaks” featuring Breez Evahflowin, Moka Only, Mr. Lif and Prowess The Testament. The Wu-esque track “Kitchen Sink Gumbo” featuring Empuls, Kahlee and Wild Pigeon and the hard-hitting “Comrades” where we get to hear fiery verses from Cappadonna, Trife Diesel and Ty Farris.
100% of the album’s profits will directly fund programs supporting the Disabled, Autistic, and Neurodivergent communities.
