Trebles and Blues – From My Father (Album Review)

In From My Father, his second full-length, L.A. instrumental hip-hop artist Trebles and Blues samples musicians who are far more obscure than the likes of The Stylistics and Natasha Bedingfield, whose cuts he chopped up in the jazzy 2011 gem The Blue Note. This time, Trebles has turned to his father’s collection of ’70s and ’80s Korean folk records–which, as folk music, are more synthy and symphonic than Pete Seeger-y–to craft a concept album about his South Korean immigrant parents and the eight-year separation they endured after his father was deported back to Korea (for reasons Trebles..

Brooklyn producer J57 releases today an instrumental track from 2008 with “Hey, Remember The Time The World Didn’t End On 12.21″ (probably the longest name, we’ve seen here on WIB). To celebrate that after all…12.21 is not the world end.

Jazz Logic – Dusty Beats :Vol 3 (U.K)

Jazz Logic, another talented brother from Leeds UK, as mentioned before, the water in Leeds must have something as West Yorkshire has been churning out DOPE producers for almost 2 years now. It’s impressive.

Jazz Logic is a 15 year old, that produces very spiritual and soulful tracks. Dusty Beats Vol.3 was released last April, but he has released a couple more project since.

He has also a remix of  MF Doom (below) that is spectacular. Don’t sleep on this brother. Keep it locked on WIB for more.

DOOM “done” with the USA

I was browsing Potholes In My Blog when I came across an article about DOOM… He’s got upcoming projects with the likes of Masta Ace and Jneiro Jarel and he’s a legend in hip hop. This has not made DOOM’s attempts to re-enter the USA any easier. DOOM was born in the United Kingdom but moved to the United States as a child and never became a citizen. He told U.K. magazine, Q “I’m done with the US”, regarding his fight to try and get back into the USA. This struggle has supposedly been going on since DOOM toured Europe in..

ALBUM: Hugh Augustine & Al B Smoov – Word Is Bond LP

Hugh Augustine and Al B Smoov come in with their full length LP ‘Word Is Bond’. Err… no relation. I did get this from our E-Mail vaults though.

Anyway, it’s nice. Al B Smoov lives up to his name with some silky nice production while Hugh Augstine, who we’ve featured a bit before, is on the lyrics.
