Multi-talented producer/drummer Layton Weedeman is the frontman of a musical project called Yellow Couch Music which sees him collaborating with a host of artists from different backgrounds. Now, they team up with rapper JSWISS, John Robinson and vocalist Estephanie for their debut single titled “Fool Stop”. The jazz/R&B/hip-hop infused track is made up of punchy live drums, rich layered instrumentation made up of pulsating basslines, slick textures and horns underpinned by JSWISS uplifting bars that center on taking things in stride and not overworking ourselves. The verses are threaded by Estephanie’s silky melodic runs ripe with insightful and thoughtful songwriting.
The musicians on the track include Trumpeter Eric Biondo (Antibalas, Massive Attack, Charlie Hunter),Grady Tesch (Ira Coleman, Jerome Jennings, Huevito Lobaton) on keys and synthesizers, Flutist Lars Haake (John Benitez, Hiram Bullock, George Burton) and Weedeman on the live drums.
“Fool Stop” is the first taste of what to come as Yellow Couch Music has plans to put out a full-length album later this year
