“The Chase (Strings Attached)” is a genre-bending collaboration between emcee JSWISS and Grammy Award-winning producer and trumpeter Michael Leonhart with the assistance of Keyon Harrold, DJ Logic and an all-star Brooklyn-based string quartet (Mazz Swift, Dana Lyn, Jessica Troy, Marika Hughes). This reworking is a rich blend of live instrumentation, turntablism and engaging lyricism.  Bolstered by Michael Leonhart’s piano-driven soundscape ripe with rich string arrangements, lush horns from Keyon Harrold and excellent vocal scratching from DJ Logic, JSWISS’s profound wordplay and meticulous flow meld into unexpected harmonies with the orchestrations, floating across heavy beats that combine old school boom bap with modern hip hop production.

JSWISS and Michael Leonhart released their first full project as a duo, “The Alchemy EP”, in January 2021 following a string of singles that included “Shut Him Down feat. Elvis Costello”. The pair began releasing together after a spark of creative chemistry during a monthly residency at NYC venue Jazz Standard, during which JSWISS guested with the Michael Leonhart Orchestra for performances broadcast on NPR and WBGO.

The original version was released on their debut album, Bona Fide.
