We celebrated International Women’s Day with our 6th annual Women in Hip-Hop Spectacular on DOPEfm and The Word is Bond Rap Radio program.
Today, we are going to look at the second year rap music was recorded and shine a spotlight at all of the female voices you heard on wax in that year, 1980. It is part of our monthly documentary series, Know Your History.
After that, we have an exclusive interview with pHeonix Pagliacci,. You may have seen her on the cypher video that Team Backback put together for #IWD2016. She blew me away with her live performance at the Kuumba Festival last month. Thank you to the Harbourfront Centre for having us out and for throwing such a great show.
