The UK born Nigerian artist Unchained XL returns with the fourth edition of his self-produced “Weight On My Bars” music series, which sees the rising emcee deliver 48 bars straight with no chaser as he covers a wide range of topics.  On the 4th edition, he blends his sharp political commentary with comedic irony using complex rhythms and rhyme schemes over an upbeat bass-laden soundscape. He doesn’t stop there as he brings along Auckland based Saxophonist Thabani Gapara (Katchafire, Stan Walker, Sons of Zion, Three Houses Down) for a sax solo.

2018 saw UXL’s reach expand globally, touring the UK with shows in London, Bristol, Sheffield, Leeds, and Cardiff, performing alongside artists such as Mungos HiFi, Afro Cluster, and Eva Lazarus. His  2019 release “The Migrant Mind” EP received global attention after having featured on international blog OkayAfrica due to its poignant commentary on the refugee crisis and violence faced by migrants. Drawing from his experience as an ex-metal vocalist, UXL always delivers a highly energetic and convicting live performance that will leave you searching for more.
