Tor was the first artist I ever posted on Word Is Bond; a mashup tape combining sweet Sufjan Stevens loops and cuts with a handful of acapellas. Really, that was what got me hooked quite significantly on Hip-Hop. So I’m delighted to finally see Tor’s debut album, Drum Therapy, finally get a release because it’s been a long time coming! The first release on Emancipator’s label, Loci Records, Drum Therapy presents an entire soundscape crafted from samples intricately woven among each other, an intense atmosphere that generates a feeling of mysteriousness, full enough that you’re always on the cusp of being overwhelmed but you’re always drawn back in. It’s exactly what I had hoped it’d be. Stream/cop here.
