Babah Fly enters this week’s playlist with “Unity Space,” a multi-genre piece that calls on everyone to practice unity and true love for one another—featuring artists Ganja Zulu and Conrad Mata over a dynamic backdrop that moves from rapid DnB grooves, cinematic Hip-Hop textures, and Reggae toasting to complete the job. “Unity Space” is a call to unify. The song is a blend of Hip-Hop, Reggae, and Drum and Bass.

Legit brings together Florida party vibes and Gospel on this uplifting jam, “City Boy Praise.” Against a bouncy bass-kaden groove and soft textures, the emcee reflects on his faith and gives praise to God for all the blessings and small mercies.

Singer/songwriter Sidney McCauley pens an adulation-filled letter to that special someone in his new single “Love To Watch Her Shine.” Against a soulful backdrop of lush pads, rich guitar licks, and a smooth drum groove, the singer delivers a soothing performance, ripe with reverence, as he tells the world how he truly feels about his significant other.

Khy Uniq returns with the song “Time Flies”,  alongside his new EP Outside of Comfort, a five-track project that highlights his artistic evolution. The track is a reflective piece about life purpose, shortcomings and the power of self-belief and hard work.

Producer Amadeus360 and Devine Carama team up for “Step Ya Bars Up,” a no-holds-barred lyrical exercise featuring Che Noir. Against a hard-hitting backdrop that flips a classic sample, the duo step into the forefront with expressive flows and engaging wordplay laced with raw, unfiltered energy. The song is featured on their newly released collaborative album, Guardians of the Boom Bap II, out today.

Rapper/songwriter Gr8Man Gwapo pours his heart on wax with new single “BIBLE THUMPER.” The track is an insightful track about choices, growth and perseverance in the face of obstacles. The track is mostly piano-driven and strays away from using drums, which allows Gwapo’s vocal performance to cut through the mix and shine like how they are supposed to.

Emerging rapper COLO is all about hard work in his new single “10k hours.” The aptly titled track has a soulful vibe comprising soothing melodic samples, dark basslines and punchy drums and finds the rapper reflecting on his life’s purpose and the power of not only having a plan but also executing it.

Vinnie Hoover and Hommy DeVito continue to dazzle listeners with their brand of dark retro boombap raps. Their latest release, “Magic,” comprises crunchy drum breaks and a brooding piano loop with dusty textures that underpins Hoover’s unfiltered raps.

trevvy steps into our playlist with the self-produced “jiggy.” Blending lofi-jazz sounds with sparse drum breaks, the rapper flexes his lyrical muscle and shows fans his alternative style.

LoDeck‘s “Banksy Bloodtypes” is a masterclass in lyrical exercise, bringing together Sutterhouse Swish and FT of Street Smartz. The result is a hard-hitting piece that evokes the anonymity of the street artist Banksy as the epitome of creativity in an age where fame and clout-chasing are the norm. Against a dark and gritty backdrop, the emcees exercise their lyrical liberties coupled with a hook that samples Ras Kass.

Phlilly’s Breadman MGV breaks out for the summer with “Condos Lambos Maybach (Remix)”. The track blends modern rap with Afrocentric grooves with lush textures. Here, the rapper details the exotic life, riding the streets with foreign cars with blazing rims.

Rising singer/songwriter Dominic Patrick enters this week’s playlist with “Nothing to love you,” a heartwrenching ballad that details emotional pain, loss and regret. Against a soft piano riff, warm pads and downtempo drum grooves, the singer shares his experience dealing with toxicity in a relationship and the painful measures that come with moving on.

Australian rapper/songwriter Kwasi proves he is not only a  “Troublemaker” in his new single. The track, produced by Paco Laprod, is an anthemic, anti-establishment rhetoric that highlights the power of youthful exuberance. From the rock-influenced drum grooves to the layered cinematic textures comprising dark, brooding chords and sizzling guitars, Kwasi sets the stage with his calm demeanour and enthralling vocal performance. He doesn’t scream at the top of his lungs, but rather, he controls the frenzy with a sage-like presence, inciting his audience to go against the grain.

Filipino rapper SANTOS‘s new single “Minus One” is a heartfelt piece about the Filipino karaoke culture, which brought families together to share and create memories. Against a soulful, warm backdrop, SANTOS breaks down the concept for listeners through vivid storytelling that highlights the essence and nuances of this culture that helps keep Filipino families closer. Armed with a laidback but expressive flow, SANTOS also touch on the nuances, especially the need for unheard voices to complete what music brings. It’s definitely an enlightening track for listeners who are not familiar with his Filipino culture and a celebratory one for Filipinos everywhere.

The legendary singer/songwriter Melvin Riley returns with his new single “Talkin in My Sleep,” a heartfelt, lovelorn ballad about fears and anxiety that come with building and keeping relationships alive. The production is as smooth as butter, and the layered instrumentation is filled with warmth and blissful notes, while Riley’s distinctive vocal runs cut through the mix with ease and draw listeners in. The writing is brilliant and highlights the complex nature of love, while focusing on the concept of accidentally exposing one’s feelings while fast asleep.
