Morgan Miller enters this week’s playlist with some aspirational thoughts. Their new single “Nosebleeds” is a self-affirming anthem that captures the struggles of a fledgling artist in the modern world. Over a sombre backdrop, the emcee reflects on the never-ending grind and sacrifices required to succeed in this uncertain entertainment business.

“Clear My Mind” by Callme__Curtis is a heartfelt and reflective cut that follows his journey from different cities across different coasts. Backed by a soulful backdrop with a bouncy drum groove, the emcee runs through the events and experiences that helped shape him into who he is as he finds true peace far from the craziness of the world.

“God Somewhere” is the latest release from veteran Chi-town producers  Cam Be and Neak , who team up with Sam Thousand and Elisa Latrice. Fusing modern jazz with soulful boom-bap elements, the track explores the never-ending search for life’s true purpose and the power of growth. The lyrics are reflective and heartfelt, while the melodic chorus adds that classic neo-soul vibe to complete the job.

J-Graze‘s latest release  “Reminisce” is a nostalgic story about the early days of the internet, the mid-2000s era of rap and other fond memories. Over a soulful and warm backdrop, the rapper recounts the good old days and adds a unique touch that centers around fame and the never-ending search for the limelight.

Spank Get ‘Em gets introspective and sombre in his new release titled “Pray For Me”. Here, he gets emotional about the sacrifices that come with chasing one’s goals, being there for his loved ones and the fear of total failure. Over a moody piano-driven backdrop, Spank Get ‘Em delivers a heartfelt performance that highlights raw vulnerability in the truest sense.

Niko B Suavé takes time to appreciate life in their latest release, “Smell The Flowers”. The track is a soulful and reflective piece that explores the concept of hitting the brakes to enjoy the moment and the little wins in this thing called life.

Cleveland Heights, Ohio-based rapper Marquis Storm steps in with style in his new release “Better With Ice”. The track is a vivid storytelling piece about wooing a lady from the other guys who didn’t match up. The production is quite punchy and dark, but it sets the urgent tone for Storm’s vivid imagery and energetic delivery.

“Tejano With Motion” is a bouncy and anthemic track produced by EMC2 and features rappers Azul Tha Don and OC Chris on the mic. The track has a heavy cinematic brass stab and synths with deep grooves and is underpinned by bravado-laden lyrics from the duo.

ABBA-CONDA X4XX delivers an experimental track, “La (I’ll Forget the Past)” to our ears. Backed by an atmospheric and dreamy backdrop, the emcee delivers a short performance filled with abstract and stream-of-consciousness flows.

Marquis Storm‘s “Blood Sport” is a lyric-dense track that highlights edgy and off-kilter bravado lyrics over a dark cinematic backdrop. Here, Storm brings havoc and mayhem on his naysayers and detractors.

Sherwyn D’Souza reflects on his childhood as a child of immigrant parents in the aptly titled “The College Graduate Freestyle”. Over a Kanye West-inspired backdrop comprising pitched-up vocal samples with punchy drums and soulful chords, the emcee takes us into his world as he chases his dreams and the ups and downs of finding his true purpose.

Chilean rapper Beraka takes a trip through life in “Caminata,” a reflective piece that dives into his experiences. Over a jazz-soul backdrop, the emcee talks about his life concerns, convictions and questions delicate issues of faith and emotions.

Mix Mob is a California-born alt-reggae rock band founded in 1997 by Ryan Weaver, singer, and bassist Matt Rowe. After taking a musical hiatus, they have returned with a brand new single “Let’s Cruise.” The uplifting track is a celebration of life and music as the duo deliver a bouncy and feel-good jam that blends soft rock, country and hip-hop seamlessly.

Indie rapper Zim delivers self-produced track “Hues” on our playlist. The production is soulful and punchy and finds him reflecting on the dynamics of true love and finding that special someone who completes his life.

Canvas Murakami flexes his lyrical muscles in “Just Do It.” The single uses the classic Rakim instrumental to good effect. Murakami flows with a nonchalant attitude all through and gives listeners a hint of what he has in store.
