Rapper/producer/mix engineer Zino Dope enters our playlist with his new single “The Don”. The self-produced track showcases his expressive flow and bravado raps that give audiences a taste of what is to come from the emerging artist.
Kay Greyson – “Hollywood”
UK-based rapper with Bajan-Geordie roots Kay Greyson caught our attention with her new release “Hollywood”. Over a punchy rock-infused drum groove, dark cinematic textures and thumping bassline, Kay gives audiences a two fold perspective of chasing one’s dreams in Hollywood where temptations lie rampant and always ready to derail dreams.
AKA Block – “Missing Us”.
Dutch R&B artist-producer AKA Block drops new single “Missing Us”. The track fuses elements of lovers rock (reggae) and R&B into a smooth nd seamless piece that evokes pure emotions and the enthralling feeling of finding true love in the arms of someone special. This is the first single of a reggae-themed EP called Spider Kissed The Fly.
Rudy G – “Gotta Love It”.
Illinois-based rapper Rudy G drops off his self-produced single “Gotta Love It”. The summer-drenched, jazz-infused tune sees the rapper flexing his verbal muscles while inhaling the best strain to ease his mind.
Kandalit – “WWZ”
Gambian emcee/producer Kandalit caught our ears with his new release “WWZ”. The self-produced track is a conceptual tune that explores the current state of affairs in the hip-hop game and how he has come to clean it up. The production is brooding, ominous and edgy while his commanding flow and vivid lyricism cut through the mix.
Kayz x Rakim – “Unis”
Canadian emcee Kayz and the legendary rapper Rakim team up for “Unis”, a hard-hitting track that showcases pure unbridled lyricism from Rakim who leads the charge. He is followed by Kayz who delivers in French language and together they both decimate the piano-driven backdrop.
MidaZ The BEAST – “Info Kill 3”
MidaZ The BEAST and producer TzariZM team up for “Info Kill 3”, a hard-hitting track ripe with ominous soundscapes and edgy off-kilter lyricism. This single is taken from the forthcoming collaborative album The Vivid Laser Eye Guy which Midaz commented has a “retro-futuristic vibe like 50’s science fiction flicks.”
K Hella – “Medicated”
Sacramento-based rapper K Hella a/k/a Mr. H-E-Double Hockey Sticks returns with “Medicated”, a track that takes audiences deep into the rapper’s mind. Armed with his expressive lyricism and vivid storytelling, he details the several life experiences that he needed to suppress to find peace of mind.
Kiseme – “Been Knew”
Rappe/producer Kiseme returns with a new entry in his weekly music drop in the form of the single “Been Knew”. The self-produced track employs jazzy vibes with dark textures and punchy drums underpinned by Kiseme’s energetic and passionate lyrics about perpetrators and fake individuals.
Chris Cachia – “Inside and Outside”
Canadian rapper Chris Cachia delivers his new single “Inside and Outside” with much gusto. The track has. an anthemic texture with triumphant horn passes and a punchy track over which he details the never-ending struggle between one’s inner perception and reality.
Que K – “Collapse – “Freestyle #Spotify”
Tenessee rapper Que K comes through with “Collapse – “Freestyle #Spotify”, a one-off freestyle that sees him flexing his lyrical muscle over a cinematic soundscape.
Vandell Andrew, Jah Born, Jordache Grant feat. Varcy – “clever”
“clever” is the new collaboration from Vandell Andrew, Jah Born, Jordache Grant and Varcy. The track is a laidback love ballad with neo-soul and jazz elements. The vocal runs are enthralling and soothing from start to finish.
You Should Know – “So Bless”.
Emerging rap group You Should Know reminds us of the benefits of appreciating the little things in his new song “So Bless”. The soundscape is sombre and reflective and is underpinned by his laidback flow and candid lyricism about taking the agency of his life and making the best out of it.
Colonel Red – “Joy (Remix by HOT16)”
Colonel Red and Inkswel are back at it as they spread “Joy (Remix by HOT16)” in their latest effort. The track has a warm and ethereal synth with sparse drum grooves laced with rich melodic runs and a universal message of freedom in the truest sense.
Lamont Jackson – “Free Suites at the Venetian”
Lamont Jackson leads us into the good life in “Free Suites at the Venetian”. The track has a sparse and bright texture and smooth groove and sees the rapper detailing his experience in Las Vegas
Que K – “War ready (freestyle)”
Que K continues his random freestyle series with the latest “War Ready (freestyle)”. He delivers an unfiltered freestyle over a thumping drill soundscape showcasing his skill.
H-A-M (Hustle And Motivate) – “Mental Hellth 2”
Rapper/songwriter H-A-M (Hustle And Motivate) shares a poignant tale in “Mental Hellth 2“. Over a dark and brooding backdrop, the rapper exposes the unfair and unethical treatment of mental health patients by hospitals. He doesn’t mince his words and pours his mind on wax.
Julianna Townsend – “No Stress”
German singer/songwriter Julianna Townsend helped close out this week’s playlist with her newest effort “No Stress”. The track implores audiences to focus on things they can control and enjoy life for what it brings. The track has a bright texture and bouncy groove underpinned by her sultry vocal runs and motivational lyrics that remind us not to get lost in the never-ending rat race.
