Imani Wj Wright – “So I Thought”

Rising Baltimore, Maryland based musician Imani Wj Wright delivers a heartfelt single titled “So I Thought.” Which sees the young singer reflecting on a withering relationship. Armed with airy soft vocals and a lush guitar pluck, Imani Wj Wright showcases his range and songwriting skills. Imani deals with his relationship slowly drifting away on “So I Thought”

UK’s Nutty P drops “God Please” a gloomy track that details how the system treats young black British men. He makes use of the bass-heavy backdrop to paint pictures of the struggles his mates go through and ties it with a unifying chorus that pleads to God to watch over all of his friends in these dark times.

Aby Coulibaly‘s “Maybe” is a laidback heartwarming R&B ballad that showcases her rich vocals and introspective lyrics. Bolstered by a solemn and reflective texture, COULIBALY takes time to find inner strength and hopes for a better tomorrow.

DanimaL – “Scumbag”

“Scumbag” is the newest video from DanimaL who comes through with his raw, unfiltered raps over a dusty boom-bap backdrop. The visual sure sticks to the theme and captures DanimaL’s in his element doing whatever he does, which is weird and entertaining. UK’s Reeko Squeeze closes out the list with a heavy banger titled “Creep.” The South London act teams up with producer Carns Hill who crafts a dancehall groove and lush texture to match the rapper’s sharp flow and vivid lyrics. Tapping up emerging ragga vocalist Decky for the chorus, “Creep” blends infectious melodies with Reeko’s unique lyrical style.
