Queens mc Thruway teams up wth producer SPKilla for their collaborative project “Despise The Free Lunch project” and the first visuals come in the form of the gritty, neck snapper titled Proposition Joe. A stark vivid street narrative reminiscent of The Wire set in real times. We get to see a rising hustler trying to get his daily bread underneath the watchful eyes of the law which ultimately ends up in less than peaceful results. The twist is at the end of the video though so make sure you view it till the end.

Heralded as one of the greatest shows of all time, The Wire served as a stark reminder of the perpetually troubling and unsettling narcotics scene in our country. It also inspired up-and-coming Corona, Queens rapper Thruway, who compares himself to peaceful Wire character “Proposition Joe” in his latest music video.

Backed by SPKilla’s gritty boom-bap instrumental, that boasts DJ Nel E Nel on the crossfader, Thruway provides a glimpse into his daily life as a hustler trying to get by and make a better life for his family. The thing is, he and his cohorts can’t escape the watchful eye of the feds, who track their every move from the parking lot meet-up to outside his “office.”

As you might expect, Thruway’s narrative (even if he’s handling it peacefully like Proposition Joe) doesn’t lend itself to a traditional happy ending. Or does it? Fans of The Wire may already know the answer to that, but you’ll have to watch the “Proposition Joe” video to find out for yourself. It’s directed by A1 Vision and presented through both EME Entertainment and Tato Ent.

“Proposition Joe” stems from Thruway’s stellar Despise The Free Lunch project, which is produced entirely by SPKilla. and available through all major streaming platforms and digital retailers.
