Bristol based emcee ThisisDA is not a newcomer on TWIB and has been dropping top notch material since inception. For those that missed it he recently dropped an 8 track EP titled ’21 & done‘, a project which he called a spiritual journey of many sorts, I call it brilliance in a nutshell.

Not one to rest on his laurels, ThisisDA re-ups with an engaging set of visuals for “Over” which is actually the first track off the aforementioned EP. The video is a merge of expressive dance and ThisisDA’s impassioned lyrics over an enigmatic soundscape. The dancers play centre stage as they move accordingly to the syncopated drums and at times sync their precise gestures with ThisisDA’s rapid flow to create some type of verbal puppetry. Funny enough, it feels like ThisisDA makes a cameo in the visual as he’s only given a few seconds of full view towards the end. I must say it adds to the mystique of the production.

Hit the play button and get familiar.

‘Over’ was crafted with Cambridge producer Spacedtime (Mick Jenkins, Rejjie Snow, Hawk House) while the video, which was directed by Samuel Bennett and Sepideh Zolfaghari, features freestyle dancers Ramelle Williams and Jodelle Douglas (2015 BBC Young Dancer Hip Hop Finalist), with inspiration from Flume and Chet Faker’s ‘Drop The Game’ visuals.
