The music video format has been around for decades and through the 90s and 2000s, it has really taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. V Knuckles x Termanology – “The Game” prod. by Phoniks

 

V Knuckles and Termanology team up for  “The Game,” a soulful joint that dives into their respective journeys while showcasing their unique rap styles all at once over the soulful soundscape provided by Phoniks. The visual is solid too and captures the duo celebrating their success and living life to the fullest.  “The Game” is taken from V Knuckles’ debut Album Winter Warfare which is scheduled to drop on 4/7/22!

 

The Jack Moves – “Somebody’s Watching You”

NJ soul band The Jack Moves share the visuals for their song “Somebody’s Watching You” which introduces us to their brand of retro-based soul music. The track is aa soulful as they come and gives off strong nostalgic vibes and the accompanying visual does the same. The grainy VHS effect is in full glare here and will surely bring back memories of the 80s through to the early 90s.

Jamal Gasol – “Wut U R””

Piff Music Empire capo Jamal Gasol returns with an animated/lyric video for his new release“Wut U R”. The bouncy track is a pure display of detailed lyrics laced with Jamal’s unique bravado demeanor.   The video (animated by Corey Gipson) is a chronic-induced lyrical flex over a snappin’ Bass Reevez soundscape.

“Wut U R” is taken from the recently released project, The Novelty Of Standards, which is fully produced by Reevez and has guest features from Rim and Sauce Heist.

 

 

alayna – “Just So You Won’t Be Alone”

We head back to New Zealand with the help of singer/songwriter alayna who caught our eyes with the visuals for her single “Just So You Won’t Be Alone.” The sublime piece is ripe with alluring airy melodic runs and a commanding presence that keeps listeners locked in. The visual is a blend of retro effects, smooth transitions, and the use of DIY-styled shots. The single is alayna’s new material since she released her EP, Tender in 2020.

 

 

 

 

LionElthemastermind – “How Do I Breathe (Radio Edit)”

LionElthemastermind closes out the list with the expressive visuals for his song  “How Do I Breathe (Radio Edit).” The heartfelt tune dives into the ups and downs of a young man trying to find his place in this unforgiving world. From depression, financial struggles to lack of self-esteem, and more, the rapper delivers a relatable and insightful piece that everyone can latch on to. The visual follows him as he slowly finds the way out the doldrums and shedding the dead weight.
