Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 10 Videos. This is a segment where we look at some exceptional visuals from various acts around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades, through the 90s and 2000s, it has taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but highlight some creative visuals that pop up on our radar.
Again, we promise to bring you the best from high to low budget, to animated to DIY and first and foremost, the most creative visuals we can source.

Limage – “Spooky”

Alternative R&B/pop singer/songwriter Limage unveils her Halloween-inspired visuals for the song “Spooky.” The LosHendrix-produced track blends dark trap and future R&B elements with a dash of alternative pop and sees Limage embodying the spirit of an irresistible seductress who is defiant and oozes raw confidence. The accompanying visuals add to the spooky theme by using dark, eerie motifs and eye-popping set pieces that are enhanced by Limage’s raw energy and alluring moves.

 

Estella Dawn – “Detached”.

Multi-faceted singer/songwriter Estella Dawn shares the visualizer for her song “Detached.” The alternative pop tune sees her reclaiming her strength as she cuts loose the baggage of her past relationship. Over a rich guitar-driven backdrop, she delivers an unapologetic-filled performance with scathing lines like “The adoration I had for you ran away with the night/You’re the biggest disappointment to ever spread my thighs/gone get out my face/Won’t see a tear that I’ve cried.” The visuals blend performance shots of Estella Dawn with subtle motifs and engaging set pieces.

 

 

 

Krept & Konan – “Smooth Lovin” ft Popcaan

 

Krept & Konan continue their sle of visual releases with “Smooth Lovin” featuring Dancehall royalty Popcaan. High off the release of their latest and third studio album Young Kingz II, the duo delivered a smooth club banger ripe with crisp head nodding production from P2J, slick verses from Krept & Konan and a catchy Popcaan hook to close the deal. The visual was directed by Harry Guest who brings the Afro and Caribbean vibe to the screen with a performance-filled visual that captures the trio in splendour surrounded by a bevy of ladies.

 

 

Jordan Hawkins – “Love So Good”

Rising alternative R&B artist Jordan Hawkins enters our playlist with the live performance of his song “Love So Good.” The soulful ballad is a testament to Hawkin’s vocal range and soul-stirring songwriting which dives into the complexities of building a solid relationship. The live performance is set in a recording studio and shows Hawkins with his band.

Fans will have a chance to experience Jordan live at the iconic Apollo Café in New York on November 8, after which he’ll embark on a mini-European tour with intimate performances in Paris (November 9), Berlin (November 13), and Amsterdam (November 14) at each cities’ Soho House.

 

 

Xzibit – Been A Long Time Pt. 2 (ft. Jenn Em)

 

The legendary Westcoast rapper Xzibit returns with another music video for the new single “Been A Long Time Pt. 2” featuring singer/songwriter Jenn Em. The track is the sequel to his classic track of the same name featuring the late Nate Dogg and on this new iteration, Xzibit goes for gold with his foot on the pedal. Over Dem Jointz‘s dark cinematic soundscape, he explores the ups and downs of relationships and how external pressure can taint one’s mind.

 

 

Jay Prince x Sam Wise – “How Far”.

 

Newham, London-born artist Jay Prince and South London rapper Sam Wise team up for the reflective track “How Far.” Backed by a bouncy and somewhat trippy backdrop provided by Jay and German-Afghan beatmaker AgaJon, the rappers talk about their struggles as young men trying to find their place in an unforgiving world. The visual is directed by Jay who blends subtle motifs, engaging set pieces with performance shots in a seamless manner.

 

 

 

 

 

RYN SCOTT – “When I Drop”.

 

Michigan-based Rap/Hip-Hop artist RYN SCOTT helped close out this week’s video playlist with “When I Drop.” The heartfelt track talks about maintaining one’s integrity in the face of adversity and staying true to one’s calling. The visual has a dark and moody lighting with a focus on performance by RYN SCOTT.
