Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 10 Videos. This is a segment where we will be looking at some exceptional visuals from various acts from around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades and through the 90s and 2000s, it has taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but rather highlight some of the creative visuals that pop up on our radar.
Again, we promise to bring you the best from high to low budget, to animated to DIY and first and foremost, the most creative visuals we can source.

INFAREL – “Distribution”

INFAREL is bringing real hip-hop back to the forefront as he drops the “Distribution”. The track has a scenic blaxploitation soundscape which forms the canvas for INFAREL’s vivid lyricism as he uses the analogy of illicit dealing for his music. From crafting the most concentrated form of hip-hop to working with a tight-knit dealership and retailers, the rapper proceeds to move units like the most potent uncontrolled substance you can find on the mean streets. The accompanying visuals bring the lyrics to life with it’s engaging storyboarding and detailed breakdown of his music empire.

 

 

 

KYLE KNIGHT – “EAST SIDE”

 

Rapper/songwriter KYLE KNIGHT takes us to the “EAST SIDE” in his latest single. Backed by a sublime and soothing sample and punchy drums, the rapper basks in his success and the summer sun. Armed with his laidback flow and charismatic demeanour, KYLE sure brings something refreshing to this effort. The accompanying visuals continue the celebratory mod with its performance shots and captivating cut scenes of the rapper in his stomping grounds.

 

 

 

Kevin Nova – “Fall Apart”

 

Palm Beach County, Florida-raised, New Brunswick, New Jersey-born rapper Kevin Nova caught our attention with his newest release titled “Fall Apart”. The reflective track is made up of a melancholic vocal sample and warm keys with snapping drum grooves underpinned by Nova’s reflective and insightful bars that center on the never-ending struggle we all face and the need to always lean on someone during hard times. The visuals have a DIY feel and use a slow-moving camera to capture Nova’s performance style in pure cinematic fashion.

 

Vyle – “UNDER_RAGING”

NY artist Vyle gets into the zone in his newest single titled “UNDER_RAGING”, a hard-hitting expressive track made up of thick pulsating basslines, distorted synths and rapid-fire drums all peppered by his stylish and expressive flow and vivid lyricism that explore topics such as self-discovery, layered social relationships and the complacency that exists in modern-day hip-hop. The visuals have a psychedelic feel and use mind-tripping motifs that take us deep into the rapper’s mind and we get a glimpse into the darkest corners.

 

 

Showrocka – “2023 Rap Up (I’m About To)”.

Showrocka sets the story straight with “2023 Rap Up (I’m About To)”. As a rap documentarian, he offers us a vivid and engaging recap of all the major events that occurred in the hip-hop sphere with his unique twist. Inspired by the works of luminaries like Mad Skillz and Uncle Murda, Showrocka offers an alternative viewpoint of these events and it’s a welcome addition. The visual is well-crafted too and uses clean-cut scenes and performance shots to get the message across.

 

 

Otis Mensah x seigfried komidashi x Rituals of Mine – “That Mouth Of Rainfall”

UK Poet and MC Otis Mensah releases grimy one-shot video for “That Mouth Of Rainfall” featuring Rituals of Mine. The single was released sometime last year and it needs a befitting visual which Otis brings to the forefront. The grainy effects and use of religious motifs add that extra emotional and insightful vibe to the track.
