Irish producer St Francis Hotel and Nottingham-born soul artist Liam Bailey recently put out their new collaborative album, Enfant Terrible. The album is preceded by the lead single “Recovery Time” which delves into love, self-doubt, isolation and finding one’s true nature in the midst of the craziness of the world. The production is quite dynamic and edgy with its soulful, dark pop aesthetics and Liam’s rich melodic runs that draw listeners in with each line.

“It started out as an end-of-lockdown Dub EP that naturally evolved into a bigger thing. The idea was to coalesce both of our musical backgrounds and influences to try and make something new that paid tribute to our influences but felt unique.” Lyrically Bailey continues an ongoing exploration of his roots and upbringing as a British Jamaican. “Central to the sound was getting drummer Carl Benjamin (The Wailers, Lee Scratch Perry, Julian Marley) and singers Emily Holligan and Simone Daley-Richards (Michael Kiwanuka, Gabriels, Sinemin) on board. Mick Jones from the Clash also features playing guitar on the album track ’Truth Is’”.
