Roots And Tings are made up of Bay Area rap veteran Lateef The Truthspeaker (Quannum, Latyrx, Blackalicious), Jah Yzer (Acclaimed Dj-Producer), And singer Winstrong. They recently put out their debut album All Of This and now they share the visuals for the focus track “Dominoes.”
The riddim heavy track reflects the group’s thought-provoking lyrics and melodic vibes that stem from roots, rock, reggae. The marriage is heavenly and blends the two genres harmoniously. Lateef the Truth Speaker is more than comfortable with his gruff vocals and vivid style. With lines like “…Except we even louder with opinions and a song/We kill them with the culture cos the knowledge too strong, burn your eardrums if you fraudulent and wrong…” the group gives the listeners a pure taste of what they call Revolutionary Culture Music while rocking their heads.
Reflecting back on the new project Lateef comments, “It is an ode to the love affair between Hip-Hop and Reggae music since the inception of hip hop. The music is a combination of all the different iterations through the years, of both genres.” Agreeing Winstrong adds, “Roots and Tings. Music to guide our perception.”
