Revenge of the Truence’s MuGGz and Tay Dayne waste no time getting to the point on their hard-hitting new EP, H1N1, produced entirely by frequent collaborator Endemic Emerald. Since first jumping on the scene in 2015, the New York duo’s mission statement has been to keep it moving with a steady stream of quality releases and on this new 6 track effort, they deliver the goods. in the winter, the hard-hitting duo also shares with us the video for the title track “H1N1”.  A laidback cinematic piece that showcases the duo’s lyrical dexterity and knack for infusing social commentary into their raps.

There’s a lot to dig into and digest throughout the EP’s six tracks, which combine bars and beats with a message. And that message carries through on the visuals for the title track, which is available for viewing to coincide with the project’s release. Directed by ROT themselves, the video centers on footage from the H1N1 outbreak of 2009 and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It’s a bit of a heavy watch, but it’s a poignant one as well as a grim reminder of where the world is at right now.

Get H1N1  on all DSPs here. The six-track effort is also available on vinyl in limited quantities via Fat Beats.
