VH1’s new two-hour documentary, “Planet Rock: The Story of Hip Hop and the Crack Generation”, makes its debut Sept. 18. The doc focuses on relationship between the 80s crack epidemic and hip hop artists of that time period.

Ice-T is the executive producer as well as the narrator. RZA, Raekwon, B Real and Snoop Dogg are a few artists who will provide insight and commentary in the doc.

Obviously, most hip hop fans know there was some relationship between the crack epidemic and hip hop but it will be interesting to see the extent and details on that relationship. For the amount of garbage VH1 airs, their docs and Behind the Music specials are pretty good, so I’ll definitely catch it.
