Rising Vancouver-born and Toronto-based East Indian artist, Neela is not new to us and her new release “You’ll Never Know” is a heartfelt track that explores the dynamics of domestic violence in its different forms. Bolstered by a bright guitar pluck, and soft textures, Neela paints a sad tale of a relationship filled with hurt and emotional pain delivered by a partner who doesn’t want to acknowledge their actions in the situation. The lyrics are quite profound and are filled with anger and frustration and ultimately she uses the pain to find the strength to move on regardless.

Overall the record is much needed in this time and age where violence against women is prevalent and with Neela experiencing this in her own life, she has been able to paint a clearer picture for everyone and most importantly use her platform to bring attention to the horrific issue of murdered and missing Indigenous women and children.
