North London-based rapper/poet Mushiya caught our ears with her blend of conscious and insightful songwriting that bridges the worlds of poetry and hip-hop. With 2 poetry EPs under her belt, Mushiya is traversing a new path as an emcee and her new single “Choosy” help set the tone. Backed by a sublime guitar lick and sparsely arranged drum groove, Mushiya reflects on the dynamics of life and love and how nothing is promised and one just has to go with where love happens. She acknowledges that it’s not all rosy and disappointments are abound so she approaches the situation with a playful and somewhat nonchalant demeanour to soften the blow and she remains choosy about whom she let into her world.
