Emerging Hot Springs, Arkansas-based hiphop artist MrSpoonySpoonz drops his new 5-track EP VALHALLA Volume One. The EP sees him working exclusively with Mr. Mixa who produced the entire project.

The EP starts on an upbeat note with “Everyday,” a smooth bouncy tune that introduces us to what makes MrSpoonySpoonz tick. From the get-go, audiences get a whiff of his playful and energetic persona. From the use of subtle melodies, extensive word play and layered lyricism and a distinct high pitched vocal tone, the track sets the tone perfectly. This leads into the next track “Gat,” a track that comprises thick bass-driven trap drums and crunk snare rolls. here, MrSpoonySpoonz holds nothing back with verbal darts like “Can’t hang with this Rearrange your face on a regular/fuck all these competitors, there ain’t nobody better bruh.  The next track “Bong Bowls And Raw Cones” is a rap duet with Master Ke which serves as the quintessential weed track. The beat is punchy, and dark and has a smoky chorus that pays homage to the bong and verses that underscore their respective activity as residence herb smokers.

The last two tracks have vastly different aesthetics. “Holding My Hand” is a heartfelt and reflective tune that explores blossoming love and the longing for that special someone who completes him. He shows a hint of regret and prays to do the right thing while admitting his flaws. “Paradise” on the other hand is a bravado street-savvy track that  taps into MrSpoonySpoonz’s paranoia and quest for survival in a cold world. Backed by a bouncy anthemic trap soundscape he details his experiences and struggles and finishes it with the following hook “I keep a loaded nine right by my side/It completely blows your mind, you noticed right/I ain’t got no fucking time to try to lie/I’m just trying to live my life in Paradise” which underscores his ultimate mission.

Overall VALHALLA Volume One, is a quick snapshot of MrSpoonySpoonz’s rap style, which is steeped in modern rap aesthetics and topics. He shows signs of lyrical brilliance in some songs while giving us a glimpse into his life in others.
