Read the writings of any badge who’s worked the arson desk and you’ll be familiar with the psychological profiling of the crime – the need to immolate the unjustifiably complex or unrighteous into something simpler and purer; ashes.  Morbidly-o-Beats isn’t quite taking a petrol can to some of today’s bloated and over-ambitious producers, nor is he taking a deconstructionist approach to beat making, but he is taking things back to basics in some sense.  On Analogue Arsonist, just the MPC2000XL and SP303 are utilised to make stripped-down headphone head-nodders.  Praise is due not only to the approach, but to the execution of minimalist beats that maintain genuine engagement, which is never an easy thing to do.
