Quakers, a ‘hip-hop collective boasting 30+ members’ (although I’m not sure about that just seems like a bunch of producers with features), released an astronomically good self-titled album on Stones Throw which we praised quite highly in our review 41 tracks deep back in 2012, and the fact that each one was absolutely flawless is testament to how good it was. Of trio of producers at the centre of Quakers two were born out of the legendary psychedelic British band Portishead (their producer Geoff Barrow and 7-Stu-7, their engineer) but it is the third, Katalyst, a celebrated Australian producer, who delivers this mix. Expect hip-hop, psychedelic soul, and a whole bunch of other weird sh*t. Listen to the mix, discover some original samples (peep the Donuts reference), and buy the album if you haven’t already.
