Rising Oakland based rapper/ songwriter-Just Rese hit us up with his new single titled “Holding On” which shows a sensitive side of his persona. He delivers a melodic laced performance over a west coast funk groove which exudes a summertime feel. The overall theme of the song, however, sees the artist trying to find the true meaning of love.

“Holding On” is from his debut EP-‘HIPS’ this upcoming mid-December. The story behind HIPS delves into a couple’s relationship from it’s start to end, providing a scheme of phone call recordings from the rappers love interest. The project begins with the initial lovers and friends stage, on the first single “Groov,” transitioning to the couple undergoing relationship complications on “Lyin,” to ultimately unable to receive and understand love in such high capacity on “Holding on.” Reses’ charismatic wit and melodic rhymes, shines over a host of diverse sound schemes, including chopped and screwed and low-temp hip-hop productions, rock-and-roll elements and live band influences.
