Roosevelt, NY emcee JusKolMeAl is familiar with TWIB and has put out more than a handful of singles alongside albums and mixtapes. His latest album Other People’s Money, is a 7 track body of work that showcases his unrivalled lyricism and versatility and serves as the third project in his ever-growing catalogue.

“The End” is an ironic title for an opening track but there is a reason behind it. Backed by Asethic’s cinematic soundscape, JusKolMeAl delivers a flurry of vivid bars that digs deep into the inner workings of standing on business on these mean streets:

You think it a game, here’s a roll of quarters, put your soul in order

Wipe out the fiends, tell the plug to hold the orders

Protect your sons, hold your daughters, control your quarters

He is also joined by singer Nolo who peppers the track with his sonorous vocals. Next up is “UnSung- 2023 Remastered Version”, a dark brooding track made up of solemn and haunting keys and strings. Here, JusKolMeAl draws listeners into his world with his graphic imagery and authoritative flow. Every single word is justified as he breaks it down so listeners can catch it with lines like “Niggaz gonna chase the fame and gamble their life if you hype ‘em/Here in the game, Tyson in the brain, the writing is sustained/The type of life you gain when the price done changed”.

“Progress” is a soulful piece that embodies the spirit of a man making moves and keeping his eyes on the prize. JusKolMeAl doesn’t hold back his true thoughts and details how he makes progress while cutting off the detractors and naysayers. Along for the ride is singer/songwriter DreamLife who complements the track with her sultry melodic runs. “Cheat Code” is a display of skill from the emcee who doesn’t refrain from chastising the fake emcees who can’t measure up. On “Drama”, he kicks a glory street tale that explores the aftermath of betrayal and the never-ending drama that ensues between two individuals gunning for each other. The last two tracks see JusKolMeAl working with DopeBoyzMuzic. “Run Away” is the first and it’s a nostalgia-inducing piece that talks about the past and the many events that shaped him, his girl and his brethren, over time. From the good and bad times, he found recourse in these memories. The final track “Hard 2 Believe” is made up of a brooding and dark soundscape underpinned by his commanding flow and engaging rhyme schemes.

Overall, Other People’s Money, serves as a snapshot of a black man putting in work and finding his true purpose in this unforgiving world.
