Bay Area artist Jesse Medina recently collaborated with Granjer Records on a full length project titled “Thiswaywestward” and the first single from said project is an off kilter, boom bap-ish jam called “Chasin Franklin‘”.
The single features rap legend, Kool Keith who lends his extraordinary talents to the track with lines like “Freaky girls, we break out in duets/ Mr Aek with large sums of alcohol intakes” which serves as a smooth follow up to Jesse’s full frontal flow at the start of the track
Speaking of, the track is produced by fellow Bay Area resident Mr. Aeks, whose affinity for blending genres within Hip-Hop instrumentals is well-known. And he brings that boundary-pushing approach to “Chasin’ Franklin” as well, mixing jazzy brass with Boom bap to great result.
“Chasin’ Franklin” is now available through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms, and is set to be featured on Granjer Records’ forthcoming compilation LP Thiswaywestward. The track is also accompanied with the release of a comic book that details Jesse’s adventures with the eccentric Dr. Octagon. The comic is available at select comic book retailers in the LA and the Bay Area, and can be purchased directed via Soft Comics online, and requesting a copy.
