Unfortunately for Jay-Z and Beyonce, the choice to name their first-born bundle of joy Blue Ivy was less innovative than we all had thought. The Carter family was unsuccessful in trademarking their baby’s name after the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office sent a suspended letter to the couple for pending trademarks on the name “Blue Ivy”. Instead, ownership was granted to 32-year old Veronica Alexandra, proprietor of Boston-based wedding and event company Blue Ivy.
