Friends With The Help – Divine Lux

Friends With The Help – East Van Shit (prod. K-Rec)

A fun mixtape by K-Rec…this reminds me of Slim Shady mixed with Beastie Boys. If you enjoy any of the above, you should give this one a try.

Friends with the Help is an independent trio that consists of Low Lux (vocals), Young Nige (vocals), and K-Rec (machines). The debut single, “East Van Shit” highlights some of the finer points of living in East Vancouver, including cheap greasy and delicious Chinese pastry, impromptu games of street hockey and extreme storytelling. Lux and Young Nige rapped together for two years before meeting K-Rec at a weekly rap night in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. K-Rec went on to join the group, largely producing and entirely mixing, mastering, and engineering the mixtape. The self-titled album showcases the best of what the trio has done up until now and can be simply described as a slaphappy yet embarrassingly candid soundtrack to life as a middle of the road fly dude.
