Ecid’s mixture of a EDM beats and hip-hop form a potent combination and will no doubt draw a comparison to El-P both as a producer and emcee. But make no mistake Ecid stands on his on two feet as an artist, and is not lacking his own unique identity. His album “Pheromone Heavy” released last March caught my attention, and takes the listener on a creative journey through the mind of a slightly unbalanced individual, spewing out abstract musings and having fun with words. “Counterfeit Dreams” is a good introduction to his style and has surprisingly low Youtube views in relation to it’s quality.
