Duckwrth’s “Coming Closer” has been getting buzz since its initial release some weeks ago. The groovy track sure shows the rapper’s versatility and wide range of musical influences as he blends retro funk-pop, Afrocentric percussions and electronic elements on the track. Teaming up with G.L.A.M. who delivers an edgy performance and singer Julia Romana who ties it all with a sultry melodic chorus, “Coming Closer” brings to the forefront an organic blend of genres that slowly sticks to the ears like a mantra. Nothing is forced here and all parties simply provide the perfect add on to the infectious jam.

For the visuals, Duckwrth goes for a vintage vibe with its cinematic 70s aesthetic laced with fast cuts and intimate dance moves and performances. From the hazy mood, coloring, and costumes, the visual sure taps into an often forgotten era in music. You also gotta love the way the track flips when G.LA.M. comes into the frame and injects her unique vibrant style into the mix.
