Returning with the Palindrome vibes, Channel Th1rt3en (Pharoahe Monch, Daru Jones, and Marcus Machado) brings you their official first single from their upcoming album, A Magnificent Day for an Exorcism.

The first single, Fight, enlists Cypress Hill as the driving feature, with B-Real giving you the second verse in the form of an alternate nursery rhyme. Jones and Machado’s performance on the track, especially towards the end, are both a testament to their wizardry at what they do best on guitar and drums. The track also sees E. Jones (who’s a part of JAMLA‘s The Soul Council team) production hands all on it besides Monch.

With the storyline written by Monch, you see the band driving with a young girl (played by Riki Revolte) about to carry out a mission as revenge against a cop who just got home to enjoy time with his family. But when the cocktail is thrown, the target ends up being wooden figures in KKK clothes.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, Pharoahe Monch gives some background to the video and song:

“The driving force behind ‘Fight’ is anger,” Monch said in a statement. “Anger at a never-ending saga that repeats itself over and over. My frustration with people not hearing the outcries, until the atrocities of the brutality have been recorded on smartphones. And still, the people allow their willful ignorance to support and protect America’s culpability. To me ‘Fight’ Is equally as much a vibe, as it is a protest record.”

A Magnificent Day for an Exorcism is scheduled for release on January 22, 2021. Mark your calendars.
